Diet and Exercise Relation

Diet and exercise are the perfect combination for consistent weight loss.

If you have ever tried to lose weight and couldn’t understand why it was so difficult, you may have been neglecting to combine diet with exercise.

Losing Weight without Exercise
Some of the fad diets in existence today promise that you can lose weight without exercise, and though you may experience some small amount of loss, it will not be consistent nor have any great impact.

The Impact of Exercise on Weight Loss
In spite of what some diet programs may tell you, there is a definite connection between weight loss and exercise. In order to lose weight, you must burn more calories than you consume. Although normal daily activities such as walking, cleaning house, and even sleeping burn some calories, these activities do not burn enough to make any impact on weight loss.

Choosing the Right Foods
In addition to exercise, you must choose foods that will stimulate weight loss. In order to do this it’s necessary to consume low fat proteins and minimize the simple carbohydrates you eat. Simple carbohydrates include almost everything in the starchy category and not just sweets.

Not only are whole grain starches in the low-glycemic index category, they provide the fibre that is necessary for a healthy colon. By consuming lean meats such as poultry, veal and fish instead of beef and pork, we limit the amount of fats that are entering our bodies. This not only helps with weight loss but also has a positive impact on the heart as well. By concentrating on eating healthy foods and snacks we give our body the opportunity to undo any damage we have done with our poor eating and lack of exercise.

Lifestyle Changes
Although diets are intended as a means to lose weight, the best diets incorporate weight loss into lifestyle changes. No matter how well you do on your weight loss program, if you don’t change the way you eat and live, your weight loss will not be permanent. You must learn how to eat healthy and exercise all the time and not just when you are attempting to lose weight.

Being Great at Your Job Is Job One

In early April, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that 80,000 jobs were lost in March — and almost a quarter of a million since the beginning of the year. Many analysts are predicting that net job losses are likely to continue at least through August.

This news may be causing you to feel fearful for your own job, particularly if you work for a large corporation. That’s understandable. But now isn’t the time to panic. Instead, take action to avoid becoming a statistic.

The Good, the Bad, and the Great

So when the workforce reduction ax swings in your company, who will it hit? Bad employees? Sure, if any are still around. Good employees? Yes, those too.

Good employees are the single biggest problem a boss faces. When you talk to truly successful business owners or managers, they’ll tell you it’s not the bad employees who concern them — they’ll ultimately quit or get fired. It’s the ones who do what it takes to be OK, but never enough to be great. So if you’re merely good, you may be vulnerable. So be great.

The skeptics out there will argue that when jobs are cut, it doesn’t really matter who you are — that no one’s safe. Trust me, those skeptics will be the ones who lose their jobs first. Let them be skeptical, and wish them well. You need your own game plan.

How do you get one? I suggest you start by asking yourself the following six questions. If you can answer each with a “yes,” you’re on the right track to job security:

1. Would you hire you?

Because people always laugh at truths — particularly uncomfortable ones. And people seem to think the idea of hiring themselves is really funny.

2. Are you focused?

Many things drive bosses crazy. I know because I run my own company, and because I spend a lot of time with other entrepreneurs. At the heart of what drives bosses crazy is employees who don’t focus on doing their job well. Worse, many simply don’t do their job at all.

3. Do you have a positive, can-do attitude?

Nothing takes more air out of an organization than employee negativity. People who whine, complain, or are just plain indifferent are disliked by bosses and create a lousy work environment as they drag others down with them.

4. Are you indispensable?

Do you have skills or experiences that other employees don’t have? Computer skills? Foreign-language skills? Can you do a lot of different jobs in the organization, or are you limited?

5. Are you visible?

Do you show up for work on time — or better yet, early? When your boss comes in at 9 a.m., are you already there getting a head start on the workday?

6. Are you a leader?

Leaders don’t wait to be told what to do. They look to expand their role in ways that benefit the company, not just themselves. They take on responsibilities that no one else wants, and do them well.
so are We good enough??

Olympic changes Beijing Tourism

From travel hotlines to homestay programs, Beijing is pulling out all the stops to accommodate the more than 1.5 million tourists from home and abroad expected to converge at the capital for next month’s Olympics.

Latest statistics from the municipal tourism administration showed that the city has 5,794 hotels, providing 336,000 rooms, or 660,000 beds, for the Games.

“At present, 77 percent of five-star hotel rooms are booked, and the booking rate should be 80 percent during the Games,” said the tourism administration’s director, Zhang Huiguang, during the weekend.

Other three-and-four-star hotels still have half of their rooms available, she said.

More than 500,000 overseas tourists are expected to arrive in Beijing for the Olympics, instead of the official forecast of up to 450,000, experts have said.

The latest forecast is based on past Olympics, He Guangye, chairman of Asia-Pacific Tourism Organization, was quoted by the Workers’ Daily newspaper yesterday as saying.

Mainland tourists alone are expected to hit 1.1 million, with Olympic visitors likely to generate direct economic income of 116 billion yuan ($17 billion) for the host city.

A six-day Beijing tour package during the Games costs up to $6,000 alone, the Workers’ Daily reported.

To help foreigners who might be targeted by illegal or unscrupulous travel operators, Zhang listed several ways for the visitors to obtain help and travel information. These include seeking help from about 600 information booths located throughout the city and dialing a “12301″ national hotline for tourists.

Those who want to sign up for day tours of Beijing can also dial “8353-1111″ to join authorized travel operators, she said.

Similarly, the administration will provide free brochures on the capital’s attractions at the Beijing Capital International Airport’s terminal buildings, and all hotels of three stars and above, Zhang said.

Paris, France’s Capital City

After I discuss about France, in this post I would talk about Paris, Capital city of France. It is situated on the River Seine, in northern France, at the heart of the Île-de-France region (also known as the “Paris Region”; French: Région parisienne). The city of Paris within its administrative limits (largely unchanged since 1860) has an estimated population of 2,167,994 (January 2006) Paris is a city with a glamor lifestyle inside of. The first thing which we should talk about is Eiffel Tower, one of seven wonders. After that, Paris also have some scenic where should visit, like Place de la Bastille, etc. Beside their architecture, Paris also was one of the Baker’s world. Many kind of bread like Croissant, French bread, etc is located in Paris. Of course Paris accomodation. Paris Bed and breakfast I think no one will find a problem with that. Almost all of hotel Paris have a good bed and breakfast Paris. Because Paris also is Center of France’s economic.

Philately

have you remembered about philately? Philately is the study of revenue and postage stamps. This includes the design, production and uses of stamps after they are authorized for issue, usually by government authorities, the most common one being postal authorities. Although many equate it with stamp collecting, it is a distinct activity. For instance, philatelists will study extremely rare stamps without expecting to own copies of them, whether because of cost, or because the sole survivors are in museums. Conversely, stamp collecting is the acquisition of stamps, at times without regard for origin or usage.

Basic or technical philately, then, is the study of the technical aspects of stamp production and stamp identification. It includes the study of

  • The initial stamp design process
  • Paper (wove, laid, etc, and including watermarks)
  • Printing methods (engraving, typography, etc)
  • Gum
  • Separation (perforation, rouletting)
  • Overprints on existing stamps
  • Philatelic fakes and forgeries, especially the identification of forgeries
A topical philatelist might be interested in which subspecies of giraffe is represented on this 1925 stamp of Tanganyika.

Topical, also known as Thematic, philately is the study of what is depicted on the stamps. There are hundreds of popular subjects, such as birds, insects, sports, maps, and so forth. Interesting aspects of topical philately include design mistakes (such as use of the wrong picture on a US stamp honoring Bill Pickett), design alterations (for instance, the recent editing out of cigarettes from the pictures used for US stamps), and the stories of how particular images came to be used (one US stamp from the 1920s shows a Viking ship apparently flying an American flag, but this was not a mistake; the stamp depicted a modern replica).

One of many covers flown on the Hindenburg zeppelin, featuring a variety of postal markings.

Postal history concentrates on the use of stamps on mail. It includes the study of postmarks, post offices, postal authorities and the process by which letters are moved from sender to recipient, including routes and choice of conveyance. A classic example is the Pony Express, which was the fastest way to send letters across the United States during the few months that it operated. Covers that can be proved to have been sent by the Pony Express are highly prized by collectors.

Cinderella philately is the study of objects that look like stamps but aren’t stamps. Examples include Easter & Christmas Seals, propaganda labels, and so forth.

The results of philatelic study have been extensively documented by the philatelic literature, which includes many books and nearly 15,000 different periodical titles.

Philately is basically an activity of reading and study, but the human senses typically need augmentation. The stamps themselves are handled with stamp tongs or tweezers so as to preserve them from large, clumsy, and possibly greasy fingers. A strong magnifier reveals details of paper and printing, while the odontometer or perforation gauge helps distinguish a “perf 12″ from a “perf 13″.

Early stamps of India were watermarked with an elephant's head.

While many watermarks can be detected merely by turning the stamp over, or holding it up to the light, others require the services of watermark fluid, such as benzine (not to be confused with benzene, which is toxic), carbon tetrachloride or trichloro-trifluoro-ethane that “wets” the stamp without dissolving gum or ink. Other techniques, such as using coloured light filters have been attempted in an effort to avoid the use of toxic substances.

An oddball philatelic cover that mixes the stamps of several places together.

Experts evaluating the authenticity of the rarest stamps use additional equipment such as fluoroscopes. Some stamps are printed with ink which fluoresces when exposed to ultraviolet light. Ultraviolet light sources are also used to examine stamps and postal history for signs of repairs or various types of faults.

But as email user become more popular, Philately popularity decrease as well as philately activities decrease, So would it be a miracle for philately’s popularity to took back their popularity?
